Elisabeth Waldo New Mission Theatre

The Elisabeth Waldo New Mission Theatre, centrally located on the beautiful grounds of historic Rancho Cordillera del Norte, is the result of a dream held by internationally-known Composer/Violinist Elisabeth Waldo and her late husband, the late Dr. Carl S. Dentzel, San Fernando Valley pioneer and Director of the Southwest Museum L.A for many Years.

Until 1980, the rancho was a center activty for western art; Inhispanic music and dance and was the name of the "Studio of the Americas". Ms. Waldo and sons, Dana Carl and Paul, expanded the programming to include art forms of other cultures, including Asia and Africa.

Elisabeth Waldo and her New Mission Theatre, was contructed in 1990 as a simple frame structure. The historical bells in the tower were cast in Latin America during the colonial period and are named after Saints. The patios were expanded in 1992, with the encouragement of renowned Historical consultant and mission Art Authority Dr. Norman Neurerburg painted the facade in the style of Padre (now Saint) Junipero Serra's Chapel in Jalpan, State of Queretero, Mexico.

The Elisabeth Waldo New Mission Theatre is home base for Elisabeth Waldo and her multi arts and her ethnic performing ensembles, distinguished Artists of the World, and Art Exhibits curated by Historian and Archivist Paul A. Dentzel.

The non-profit MCMAFN (Multicultural Music & Art Foundation of Northridge) changed its name to Rancho de la Cordillera Foundation in 2015 and now produces many different colorful events for the public. The theatre and facilities are available to other organizations on a donation basis, in part tax-deductible, to help fund and promote multicultural arts.

We will be so pleased to share any of our Rancho Sites for any special occasions of your dreams!
